Oh, when I have more energy I am going to tell you about the BEST NEW YEARS EVE fun party ever that we just got home from.. but I'm wayyyyyyyyyyy to tired and sore for that now.

New logo

Thanks to everyone who took the time to enter the contest. So, yes it's a "d", but the answer I was looking for was that it also appears to be a "dragonfly". So, I didn't really have a winner, but I will do a drawing for something cool for those who entered. I did have some creative guesses. I had an entry that thought it was shorthand for Spring. Very creative thinking.








So, as you can see, my new logo is done. What do you think? It's so cute. I really wanted something creative that included my initials. I love this and I love these colors. They work so well together. The "d" is fun, but will still work for all of my photography, not just limited to the children. I do have to share the love with my designer JAMIE @ http://sodivinedesigns.com/

She was such a pleasure to work with. We also had a good laugh about my accent, as she lives in California. She's very creative and has awesome skills so if you are looking to update your branding she's your girl.

I also decided on a tagline. I chose "Cherish every moment!" Especially when dealing with children. There are so many little moments to cherish. Not just the smiley ones either. The tears, laughter, and all those others. In live we need to CHERISH EVERY MOMENT.



Well all this means that my new website should launch in the next week or so, and it too is very AWESOME. I am giving a thought to running a special in honor of the launch. Anyone out there reading this interested in saving a bit of money?

For as long as I can remember I have always been told “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away”.
I never really understood what that meant until this past year. I waited until pretty late in life (35 yrs old) to have my first child. The Lord blessed me with a beautiful baby girl, but shortly after she arrived her father was taken away from me in a car accident. I still love Mario with all my heart, I miss him so very much and I thank God everyday that I have living and breathing part of him to remember the love we shared. So my love is my daughter, Leticia Rose Parga. She is my little slice of Heaven, a genuine angel if I do say so myself.

I received several wonderful stories. This was particulary touching. So Julie congrats!! Send me an e-mail and I will give you all the details.

Also, I received this entry which hit home with me as I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes with my second child, so I have decided to award a "Mini Session" to Mrs Turner.

I REALLY LOVE MY DAUGHTER ELYSSA. SHE IS MY ONLY CHILD (ONE THAT I WAS TOLD THAT I COLDN'T EVER HAVE DUE TO ME BEING A DIABETIC) SO I FEEL SHE IS AN ANGEL SENT TO KEEP ME HEALTHY!!!

Contests/New Site/Info

Howdy, whew, finally getting time to do more than just post a photo or two.

This next year is looking bright (ok, so I'm being an optimist), but I am looking forward to making some new and exciting changes. First thing, I am getting a new and improved, oh so fancy, website. It's going to be much easier to navigate and will have a "Featured Section" that will allow me to share more photos from each of your sessions w/o password protection. I really think you will enjoy it, and since some of you (you know who you are) have trouble remember those passwords :)

Now with that being said, the old website template will no longer be available, which means that I will have to close all past client viewing galleries. So, if you have a gallery that you would like to order from you will need to do so soon, because when the new site launches you will not be able to access those galleries, without a reloading fee. I will be sending e-mails to all clients soon to let them know the launch date.

I also will be having a contest EACH MONTH this year. There's no since in waiting all year for those contests. I will have info to post about the JANUARY contest on, yep you guessed it, JANUARY 1, 2008. I will give you a little hint... Baby/Kiddos Calendar..

OMG, I'm so excited. I was checking my http://sitemeter.com and saw that my website http://dbakerphoto.com had over 2000 vistors. Seriously, how cool is that. I think I might have to break out into a speech like Sally Fields, "You love me, you really really love me." Just kiddin'. Just wanted to share my excitement. I also checked this little blog's stats and I've had 926 vistors here as well. Gosh, that's just too cool. Ok, so that maybe a small number for most, but that's a big deal around these parts.

2007 Photo of the Year Results

And the winner is.....

Sweet Lil' Vanessa- This young lady has a special place in my heart, because she has had to overcome so much. This little lady was diagnosed early on with Downs Syndrome. She is just now at age 3 starting to want to walk. She has the most special family and you can look at her and see how full of life she is. Congratulations to her and her family!! Her mommie will receive an 11x14 framed print of this photo.

We also did the winner of the $50.00 print credit for a future session and Ms Linda M. was the winner. It must be her lucky day she is the mommie of this little one above. She left a comment below and was drawn out of the 5 candidates. Congratulations Linda. You can use this print credit for your next session. I will e-mail you all the details. Thanks to all who voted. Ok, it's finally here. I had such a hard time chosing my five favorite photos of 2007. These are all my favorites for so many different reasons, as you can see below they all are wonderful and everyone of them deserves to win. I do want to say a quick thank you to all of my 2007 clients. This has been a wonderful year full of laughter, learning, a few mistakes, and friendships. Ok without further adieu...

Art Competition

In addition to photographing some of the best people around.. I also dabble in personal art. Well, every year the Fort Smith Art Center hosts a competition. Last year, I didn't win, but I was very pleased to have sold one of my pieces from the competition. Needless to say, I was SOOOOOOO excited.

So, here's the deal, I would like to do a straw poll here to see which one you would pick from these three possible entries in the BW category.
